I started line dancing in 2006 when a friend and I joined the daytime class of Just for Kicks. I've always enjoyed dancing and with both my children at school full time, I was keen to try line dancing as you don't need a partner (my husband admits he has two left feet). I was surprised at how hard I had to concentrate, but I loved it!
In 2007 Steps 'n' Stetsons took over from Just for Kicks, and in 2008 Julie asked if I would like to learn to teach. I agreed. With training from Julie, I started helping in her classes and in 2011 completed my teacher training with BWDA2000. I am so glad I did, as I really enjoy teaching.
I love seeing our dancers enjoying themselves and experiencing that same sense of achievement we all get when we master a tricky dance. It is wonderful watching the whole group moving as one and hearing the sound of everyone's feet in unison.
As a new member of the team I am very grateful for the kindness and acceptance of our dancers, and for the help and encouragement I receive from both Julie and Stephanie.
